I have an V8 block made of Alusil. As you may know this material is commonly used in many Porsche engines. The situation of the block is that my fingernail is caught in the scores on some of the most damaged cylinder walls. So very likely, the engine block will require: 1. A boring step first to eliminate the damages and scores in the cylinder walls. 2. Then, the Homing Process step to get a very smooth surface (typically less or equal to 3.9-microinch Ra (0.1 micron) and excellent geometry (cylindricity limits of 0.013 mm typically). 3. Then, followed by the critical Exposure Step to get the right roughness by relieving softer aluminum from around the silicon crystals. New oversized pistons and rings suitable for ALUSIL will be also required. I have checked the market and these should be available, so no worries about that. Any shop working on Alusil blocks must have a Profilometer to perform and verify the results (Ra, Rk, Rpk and Rvk measurements). All boring, honing, exposure steps require experienced shops with ALUSIL rebuilds, as well as tools and procedures rather different than working with iron blocks. Thus, I am looking for a shop with a proven track record of successful and reliable repairs of Alusil blocks rebuilds. I would very much appreciate if you know of any reputable shop in re-building this ALUSIL blocks, in Germany, The UK, or any other European country, as it seem difficult to find one. Thanks a lot.
They are good professionals and the only in this country capable of working on an Alusil block with guarantees. The problem? probably prepare for a long wait..
Lleve a esa tienda a hacer algunos ajustes a un motor que tengo forjado honda para aguantar +1000hp después de haberlo comprado en Portugal "listo para montar". De España, fueron los únicos que se ofrecieron a rectificarme la bancada del cigüeñal ya que necesitaba unas tolerancias muy grandes, y pese a montar cojinetes acl race hx con extra clearance no entraba en tolerancias. (Suerte que estuve midiendo pieza por pieza durante el montaje porque no me fiaba). Después también tuve problemas con los árboles de levas, tampoco entraban en tolerancias. Me rectificaron los dos puentes completos de levas uno por uno midiendo cada muñequilla ya que son unos árboles de levas vtec killer de otra culata con otros puentes. Mi experiencia no fue mala y además el precio barato. Saludos
